Introducing Sunny* Secret Sauce
The time has come for us to start experimenting with new ways to create, and receive value. This is a sauce. That’s so much more than a sauce.
I recently wrote a post about time, and how we think about the conundrum it presents us with every day - how we spend it.
This is a challenge felt even harder by those among us that have chosen professions or run businesses in which time is the currency we trade to generate income.
This is largely because our perceptions of the value that we attach output related to time varies wildly between different industries. For example, we very rarely question the value of an attorneys time but when it comes to the broader creative and marketing fraternity, our relationship with time and the value of what we do is at best, dysfunctional.
Hearing things like, “You can easily knock this out in a couple hours, one day max”, or “But you came up with that right now” are commonplace. As is my personal favourite, “Can I pick your brain for a while please?”.
This is nothing new. And while the industry has tried things like value based compensation and various performance related bonus plans and charge models, they’ve all proved somewhat elusive due to the fact that they can get quite subjective when it comes to crunch time. So the hour based billing model has endured as our default, and the problem has intensified as the value of our time has diminished in a digital world moving faster by the day.
Part of my mission with Sunny* is to try and challenge this. I want to be as free flowing with the value that I create as possible, but I want to see that value reciprocated. I want to help businesses of all sizes. I want to make myself accessible to more people that could benefit from my expertise. I want to be able to offer my value immediately, not hold back so that I can justify an invoice with a long winded, beautiful keynote presentation weeks later. I want to say ‘yes’ to the brain picking. I want to move away from hour based billing. And I really, really want my therapist to stop calling me a “pathological accommodator.”
So sitting with no staff or overheads of much consequence, I have been well positioned to do it. I just needed to figure out how.

As usual, the answer came at an unexpected time. Whilst in the strides of a presentation, the CEO of a business I was consulting at the time said to me, “You’re like a secret sauce, you know that? You help us see all these things that we don’t, package them up and hand them back to us to execute.”
And that right there was the catalyst for an idea.
Sunny* Secret Sauce is our ability to lead people to actionable strategies and ideas that create growth in their businesses, large or small; and now available as the world’s first on demand strategy product.
Secret Sauce is an actual sauce, made with a bunch of natural ingredients but also nearly two decades of strategic leadership and business growth of global, market leading brands.
So how does it all work? Well it’s pretty simple. When you buy your bottle of Secret Sauce you buy access to Sunny*, to use when you need it, until it’s done. This places accountability on the buyer to make best use of the time, and incentivises Sunny* to go all in to create maximum value.
Secret Sauce has been made for a broad selection of Founders, Brand Leaders, Executive Leaders, Agency Leaders or anyone looking to elevate their brand or business through high impact strategic advisory or fractional CMO services.
Building this sub brand within Sunny* has been as fun as it has been fulfilling. Our aim was to use our optimistic and imaginative values to create something unlike any sauce you’d encountered. Jana & Koos, together with Pip Tully again taught me lessons in the art of creativity. Pretty much none of what we have created is what I would have done. Which is exactly why you put your trust in brilliant people.
The identity felt so distinctive that we decided to take strategy to the streets and have collaborated with our family at GoodGoodGood to create a limited run of Secret Sauce t’s, which you can order now from our Shop page.
The sauce itself? Well its a secret isn’t it. What I can tell you is it’s made by Nyasha Zidya of The General Store, and it’s fire. Expect heat that gets the endorphins and dopamine pumping, inspires and energises the mind and keeps you coming back for more.
This is sauce-luxe, and we like it.
Get it, while stocks last.
